Objective: Prepare for Cedar Point

  • Challenge: Measure height of cell phone tower
    • Measuring height with similar triangles 
    • Using Google Maps to measure horizontal distance 
    • Plan where you stand to measure height of your ride
    • Enter your calculated height into this spreadsheet: Cell Tower Height
  • Measure your stride 
  • Pick accelerometer app, download, test
    • Records g-force 
    • Allows the sampling rate to be set
    • Store file, allows file to be emailed 
    • Display graph of data 
 Trip to Cedar Point on Monday 5/21

   1) $20 - $25 to purchase lunch and dinner individually in the park
   2) Long sleeve shirt or jacket if the forecast is for cool weather
   3) Sunscreen and a hat
   4) Paper and pencil to record measurements

7:30 am - Meet in the iCommons
8:00 am - Depart on buses for Cedar Point
9:00 pm - Return to Skyline

Objective: Pick teams and a ride to investigate for your final project

  • Read through both side of your handout
  • Pick teams of 2 or 3 (not 4 or more) for your final project - your choice
    • Sit with your new teammates
  • Each team should pick a ride at Cedar Point to research
    • Create a shared Google folder to store information
    • Search for quantitative information online about your ride that you could test with direct measurements, e.g., maximum speed, drop, angle, g-force
    • Record information and sources in your Google Doc
    • Begin designing experiments you could do on site to verify this data

  • Free response section on diagnostic exam
  • Grade your free response answers using the solutions starting on page 53 in Cracking the AP Physics C Exam.  Share a book if needed.
  • Open Practice Test 1 Diagnostic, make copy and open in your Google Drive
  • Fill in the Correct column for each MC and each part of a FR question: Y or N
  • The spreadsheet will calculate your % correct for each topic, organized by chapter in  Cracking the AP Physics C Exam.  This tells you where to focus your review efforts.
